Ok guys, I’ve been reading these forums for quite some time now but have never signed up or posted anything until now. I am having a issue that i have seen others post about, but I believe mine may be a bit different. The issue is dealing with the security light that will not go off. So first off, my car is a 2005 z51 (if that matters) for about the past 6 months I would notice the security light randomly come on, and every time it would i could not let down the driver side window or roll it up. After a period of time the light would go off and everything would be normal. Now what has happened is the security light has been on constantly for over a month. I have noticed that i could still let down the passenger side window from the drivers side but not roll it back up. Now it wont do anything at all. Also i noticed that most of the time my driver side door panel is completley dead besides the button to open the door. That means no mirror controls, no lock button, no nothing except for the button to open the door. On top of this i have recently noticed the airbag light staying on for no good reason at all. I have tried disconnecting the battery over night, replacing the battery, and nothing has worked so far. Every now and then the security light will go off for a few mins and sometimes allows me to control the door panel buttons but comes right back on, and still no windows. I am stumped. This has never happened before and my window has been down for over a month. It has really started to aggravate me to the point im about ready to sell the damn car. If anyone knows anything about what to try or anything at all, i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you guys.

Damned module do crap-out, weird behaviors specific to their control begin (such as yours) until module completely dies.
An '05's nearly 15 y/o, wouldn't be unusual.
A sharp tech w/ OBDII might be able to test & determine system's health, before throwing parts at it.
Unless a skilled technician w/ docs troubleshooting auto electronics DIY often turns into a fool's errand, why this is best left to a pro.

Thank you for the fast response. The bcm was my next guess of things to try. I was just looking at some ised ones on ebay, but wasn’t sure if used would be worth it or not. They are around 85-100+ For a used one. I think id rather pay that than going to a dealership. I was trying to find out more about proframming too. Ive seen some people say it has to be flashed by a dealership, and others say theres a way without it. Thanks for helping confirm that it could be the bcm, and i will let everyone know what the solution is once I get it figured out. I have seen other posters with similar issues, but zero solutions.

C6 freaks out when the battery is dying. How old is your battery? BCM would be my next guess.

 

One of the computers on the C6 they've stopped making new ones--can't recall if it's BCM or ECM. I think you said you did try a new battery with no results.

Anyone think anything about the under-driver's-seat wiring issues? I do recall some funny things from those becoming unhooked, barely hooked, impacted by seat movements, etc.

 

There will be some stored history codes that might give a clue ...

 

Ok so a little bit if an update on ny situation. i drove the vette to work today since it wasnt suppose to rain. I’ve done gotten used to the window not working along with the controls on the door panel so i really havent given any thought that it may all of a sudden start back working. anyway on the ride home i make a stop at the store, all the while the security light is off at the time but still no controls and no working window. Leave the store, the security light back on with no controls etc. while im driving i hear 3 beeps. The same beep sound like if you were to press the unlock button or traction control button. I hear the 3 beeps and the security light goes out, and low and behold i try the window and it goes up. The controls start working like normal. Now it still wont roll the passenger side up but will let it down. I really dont understand what caused it to all of a sudden work. The airbag light is still on though. Does this still sound like a possible bcm to ya’ll? Im just happy after about 2 months my window is now up, and trust me its staying up until i get this all figured out.

 

Sorry for the late reaponse, the battery is from 2018, also i actually tried a new battery with no avail. I actually just gave a bit of an update, although i still havent figured out the actual problem.

 

Could it be a wiring/short circuit issue on the passenger side door? Have you checked the wiring harness near the door hinge?
