Default Interior lights stay on....

Interior lights will not turn off including the lights on the mirror.......Even after I hit the switch to the left of the steering wheel. I also cant get it to even dim my dash lights either....This happens with the car running for the car off....... I'm guessing the switch next to steering wheel is bad?? Any ideas??? Is it hard to replace???

Thanks!!

Ozzie

There is a switch/button governing the dash brightness on the left of the dash (most likely hidden by the steering wheel from your view).

This was most likely depressed whilst cleaning the dash. However, even if this button was turned on, the car should time out and shut down all lights before the twenty minute point.

you might be right with the switch? PITA to do anything under the dash, maybe someone who's done this will chime in

When I bought my car some years ago, I also had this problem on the way home. I drove it back to the Chevy dealer and they said they will fix it as it was under warranty . They said they replaced a module. I did not get into detail about it as I was just anxious to drive the car.

Hitting the dimmer switch won't normally do anything right then. It does take effect later when you turn the motor off and exit the car. If it doesn't do it then, you do have a more serious problem and probably need to see a dealer.

There is also an issue that some have had if LEDs are installed. Some of them draw so little current that they don't trip the car's protective time-out. This doesn't explain why they are still on when the car is running, though.

The C6 is actually my wife’s car now. I have an 18 Z06 that I drive..... I don’t change the avatar because of the dog in the photo. She was an incredible dog and I had to put her down less than a year ago. So, I get to see her every time on log onto the forum. Here she was ready to go for a drive !
