You need to put a torx socket ( I think) and use an open end wrench to loosen the nuts. I had the same problem. I used small vice grips but not all the nuts came off. I managed to get me lens off with the nuts still spinning.
Check R L Sebrings website. His directions tell the type of socket you will need.
