Track GoPro Mount Location?
For anyone who has tracked their car, where did you mount your GoPro? I'm taking my GS convertible to Sebring tomorrow for a Chin Track Experience. Thanks for your help.

What do you want to see? Once you know that, you know where to put it.
I have it on my harness bar. I can see where my head turns, where my hands go, and the track in front of me.
Some people put it on the roof facing forward and watch the track go by. It can help figure out what line they have been driving.
Some people put it on the fender so they see the front tire steer and the track rush by. I don't know what you learn from that.
Seen people put it on the back bumper facing backwards. No idea why.
Some people put it on the top right corner aimed back at themselves.
Only you know what it is that you want to see.

Sure. Need to know what it is I want to see. I want to capture the track experience.
If on crossbar above rear view mirror, don't get the gauges and drivers view.
If on helmet might not get enough of the road. Curious what others have done.

I didn't take my go pro with me when I took it to the NCM track and I wish I had. I had my wife record using my phone, and man does it make it look slow! I was certainly no race car driver but I was pushing the car somewhat hard, and the passenger dashboard sure did a terrible job of displaying the speed that I was going! Anyway, the point of my story was to tell you that whatever you decide make sure you include some moving parts, like the steering wheel, the gauges, or something of that nature, because inanimate objects inside the car don't help show the experience at all!

I've used a few places. If you're just doing it for posterity, on the glass roof or windshield works well. If you want to try to capture your hands (useful if youre going to make a habit of this) the rear window works well.
On the helmet seems like it would be annoying to me. You also dont have a ton of room inside with a helmet on, I would be constantly hitting it on stuff.
Good luck, have fun, keep the car together, and remember that you are a terrible driver, have way more car than you can handle, and listen to what your instructor says! And make sure you get everything looks over for track prep!

My personal favorite is inside as close to the middle where the mirror is. You can reach the camera easily and get a pretty good view and don't deal with wind and weather hitting the camera
View from inside the car, a little below and to the left of the mirror
View from on top of the car
Side of the passenger fender
On the trunk...ish area. Right behind the door / b pillar

Facing backwards you get to see the cars you leave behind when you pass them. Plus also you get great sound from the exhaust with no wind noise. Warning: If you mount it too close to the exhaust, camera may overheat and shut down and you will miss the recording. Mount away from the exhaust!
