Just bought a 2008 base 3LT with Z51 package with 94k miles for 18.5k. That means trade in values are probably sitting around 13-15k. My guess is he works at a car dealership and someone traded in a car at that range and now expects someone to do a private party sell at that. Definitely unrealistic but hey, if someone offers it to him, lucky him. Don't doubt there are people dumb enough to do it.

That's what I'm saying. Gotta be able to read and use critical thinking before posting. Though the general private market procures more sales at higher price points, and "cult cars" such as Corvettes seem to change hands often, those that are looking for a quick sale or a trade in will be faced with true market value. Corvettes as a whole are well preserved and used sparingly in the private market as well. Public sales are more often than not; trade-in vehicles, problem vehicles, high mileage vehicles, etc... Can't compare the level of say a Corvette Forum sale to say a Craigslist sale. This guy is searching for auction level cars at auction level prices. Period.

I see base c6's being sold at 12-18K all day with 85+ miles.
His ad says 12K or LESS. Nationwide Autotrader has exactly ONE C6 that might meet his criteria. But only if it was well-maintained and (capital) "NO" issues or damage.

List price does not equal purchase price. My car was listed for $31.5, I got it for $27 out the door with tax, title, reg fees included.

Not that the above matters at all because most sales are going to be private party or auction at this price point.

They're out there, and they are selling at that price point. For example, we just saw a 2006 z51 with 179K miles on it sell for $8,750 at the local auction.

Well that's that - I just 'gave' mine away my worthless '12 C6GS, so glad its gone now and I don't have to worry about selling it.
