Default Recommendations for a new battery...

I live in North Dakota. My newly purchased C6 (2012) has the original battery in it. For peace of mind and to not get stranded in the middle of no where I'm looking for recommendations on a brand of a new battery for my ride.

Car will be driven from around April-May to October-ish each year. Apart from that it will stay in my heated garage (40 degrees) with a battery tender on it.

I've had a few local people recommend the Optima. Does anyone have any experience with these?

What other replacement batteries have you gone with?

Thank you in advance!
Mike

Seriously just go to the local parts store or Walmart and buy one...(with a handle on top) they are all pretty much the same these days.

I had issues with 2 Optima batteries, so I am not a fan. Have had good luck with Walmart Everstart batteries in many vehicles. Had good luck with the Delco OEM batteries in my last 2 vehicles as well. Wally World is simply very convenient almost anywhere you go, and this is an advantage if you have issues while traveling.

I bought my last one (Duralast Gold) a year ago from Advanced Auto (or Autozone? don't remember).

I’ve had a yellow top Optima for seven years. I’ve also picked up a brand new vehicle and couldn’t get out of the show room delivery because the AC Delco battery was dead and others didn’t last but 2-3 years so you can get bad anything.

It seems like that they are all pretty much the same except for price. I had an Autozone battery last 7 years in my 2006.

I've got an Optima Red Top in my '05 going on 7 years & still strong. I think regularly using a battery tender is vital for good battery life in Vettes.

I use Delco professional series silver and sometimes gold. I change the battery in Florida every 3 1/2 years for peace of mind. I just changed it yesterday! Good luck

My 2012 is original. It still charges at around 14.2 on the road. I will probably change it out before winter. I will do some research on who makes which batteries, but it will be WalMart, or NAPA.

That handle looks pretty convenient. Most have a removable strap.

I recently replaced mine with an Optima red top - mostly because of the red top. My whole car is white with red interior and splashes of red on the calipers and under the hood with painted fuel rail covers. Not that it sits a lot with the hood up for all to see but I did it anyway. My first Optima so too soon to tell if there is anything about that makes it any better than any other battery.

Got mine at Advanced Auto parts. It was the cheapest with online coupon. Coupons are pretty easy to find. The guys even offered to install it so I let them. Replaced a red optima that came with the car but tested week.

Just replaced my six year old Optima Red Top 34-78 with a new one as a precaution while I had it out doing some work. These are AGM batteries so a bit more expensive but peace of mind is worth something. After all these are electrical cars.

I've had a optima red for years with never a problem. Plus you don't have to worry about battery acid.

+1 for Optima. I always use yellow tops and with the way the C6 likes to drain the battery the quasi deep cycle yellow top looks to have been a good idea.

People have been complaining about issues with Optima, but I haven't seen it. They've been excellent for me.
