Lately I haven't had the best of luck with my car. I daily my 2012 Grand Sport automatic,: I more than occasionally drive aggressively; I admit this was my fault. So... pulling out onto a highway I give it a spirited go and all of a sudden the rear tires let go much more than usual. I was almost a mustang. I was only at about half throttle and I drive this car every day so I knew something was up. As I scan the gauges I noticed that I was in competitive drive mode, which I never use.Apparently, my water bottle, which had come loose as they're prone during any acceleration, had hit the selector button not once but twice as I fumbled to catch it under throttle. Fun and a little scary at the same time. I guess you shouldn't drink and drive corvettes.Maybe I'll buy that aftermarket cup holder after all.

I have to admit, I have yet to even use Sport mode or competitive mode. I wanted to take my time getting a good feel for the car and, basically, I'm having fun with it just in default mode. But I thought to get into comp mode, you had to hold the button down for a period of time and possibly even then one other step, so hearing that your water bottle hit it and caused it surprises me a little bit. I guess I better be careful with my button.

Maybe you should buy some driving lessons instead of a cup holder.
@Spaceme1117. When you expect your car to behave one way and then it doesn't that's kinda a problem regardless of your skill level. I'm sure you would have done much better.
I disable all nannies every time I drive my C6 dynoed at 606 RWHP.
With the previous tires, 7 year old Michelin Pilot Sport A/S run flats, the car would boil the tires, even at 65 MPH, but pretty much went straight, and when it did start sliding, letting off of the gas straightened it up.
With the current tires, new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 run flats, it still goes straight, although I've only let it eat one time since the tires are a few months old and I prefer they last
Wondering if the tire tread has a lot to do with being able to apply HP without ending up in a ditch, or worse?

Tire specifications will. 606 RWHP with A/S tires is going to give you a spirited ride.
the 19's are useless with 700+ hp, at least in my opinion, so far. Still trying to find a good 15x10 to replace, or considering a 17... or will get 19" drag radials.
