OK, started the car. Very sluggish start a lot of turnover finally kicked in… showed service traction control. Drove to my next spot stopped and shut car off. Started car again, or tried to. Didn’t start had to jump it. After I got it started I had no tack reading on both the dash And my HUD. Service traction mode came on and wouldn’t clear cycling through the different settings. Just went back out to start the car thought I had a bad battery car started right up but still shows a check engine light.... any ideas?
Could still be a bad idea, the first thing I would do is have it checked; next would be to check all negative and positive connections and cables/wires.
Battery, or battery cables/connections. You did not mention the age of your car, or the age of the battery...pretty important info for us. Though most of us get 5 to 7 years, or more, from a battery, they can go bad within a year or two, especially if they have been completed discharged at any time. Rule of thumb for most folks is, once your battery has been completely discharged, it has lost at least 50% of it's remaining life. Often, just better to get a new battery at that point.
Very unlikely it was a deep puddle problem.
You either have loose/intermittent connections somewhere, (I'd check the starter post) or you have a battery that has an internal cell connection going south. A third possibility is a heat damaged starter solenoid.
Ignoring these symptoms and just "hoping for the best" is going to leave you stranded.
Check all the connections, check the solenoid, load test the battery. Fix what you find wrong.
Best of luck to you.
