The **** that dims the dash lights. Press it in to turn the map lights on and off. That one had me when we first got our C6. I actually disconnected the battery when I first encountered that situation since I hadn't read the owners manual yet.
When you have the no FOBs detected message, open glovebox and place FOB in the slot located on the left side of the glovebox. If the message goes away, it's the battery in the FOB. If it stays not detected, could be antennas or receiver issue.

Just had this happen three weeks ago; fob was not detected until I put in the slot, once the car was started I could remove the fob and it would work fine until I shut off the car. Changed the battery in fob out and all has been good since.
Mirror lights staying on the eventually turning off after a long while 5+ minutes.
No Fobs detected until I press the unlock button on the fob.
Be more specific about what you are trying to do that requires pressing a fob button.
Opening a door?
Starting the engine?
Where is the fob (in relationship to the car) when you have the problem?
The fobs require a stronger battery when used passively than when used actively, so the first thing that goes south on a sub-par fob battery is when the car queries the fob and it answers.
This is because when a button on the car (door, hatch/trunk, or start) is pressed, the car sends out a weak signal and the fob sends out a weaker signal. When you press a button on the fob, it sends out a much stronger signal that the car is more likely to see (from farther away).
When pressing the start button, the fob is used only passively, which is why you can press unlock and get in the car and still not be able to start the car until you put the fob in or really close (depending on fob battery strength) to the slot.
