Default Air conditioner

So then I have the windows closed and the Ac on it smells like burning oil. I have changed the cabin filter no help. Also when I turn off the recirculating on it helps. So I was reading another thread about using a catch can. Will this solve the issue? Also where is the catch cam placement on a c6? Thanks in advance

If you have a burning oil smell inside the car, it means you have oil burning somewhere under the hood. You need to find out where it's leaking from and fix it. A catch can won't resolve this issue.

Have you changed oil lately? I recently smelled burning oil and was beginning to think the worst. Then I read of a similar problem here on the forum--seems a common issue for some after an oil change. I never did locate the spill and source. Maybe spilled oil on the cats or elsewhere? Mine went away fairly soon, but next time I will wipe down the area a little better. Hope it is that simple for you.

Sure it's oil and not antifreeze?

You are correct..........it should go away with time if it is due to oil and filter change.

But OP also needs to make sure he looks around for a "real cause" such as oil dripping on exhaust, burned wire, etc.

Sounds like valve cover leaking oil on the exhaust manifold. That was a common problem with early Chevy v8s but I haven’t heard of it in years.

Are you sure you're not smelling gas? What mods to car? After I went to HCI catless xpipe gas smell is gnarly in cabin - must turn on re-circulation in AC
