Default Cleaned My Door Latches

Hey all,
Every time I enter my 07 I squeeze and nothing. I would stand and keep trying to open the door. I have been contemplating cleaning them. Well I finally did today. Oh boy how dirty it was. If any of you guys are having problems opening the door, clean them. I wasn't difficult at all. You tube it. Took about 20 minutes each. 2007 Z51 coupe 15k miles.

I just go on E-Bay and buy two for $25.00 free shipping no taxes, and rather have new set.

Dang it! I knew I forgot to do something this past weekend. LH door is acting up sometimes. This will get done on Saturday.

Default door latches

Ok, I'll be the first. What did you use to clean them?

Eh, I was gonna do this a couple of years ago but haven't found the energy yet.

My driver's door handle is "slow." There is a second or two delay when squeezing it, sometimes I have try a couple of times.

Maybe I'll wait til the next decade.

Hahah...next decade.....some of us may not have another decade...either with our cars OR ourselves.

My drivers side worked fine for 12 years then crapped out and I went to the dealer bought a new one for chump change and put it on in less then 15 minutes. Ive heard that many of the guys to take the old ones apart, clean and reinstall have them fail again pretty quickly. Not worth it for me but I understand that many like to tinker and that’s cool but I’d rather not if it’s not a long term solution.

It's like 6 screws and some rubbing alcohol. Could probably take mine off clean em and put em back on in the time it takes you to drive to the dealer!

Brake cleaner works fine or MAF cleaner as well. Technical best would be an electronics cleaner but those are similar and worked just fine for me.

Well I guess the next decade will start this January. Hopefully I'll still be alive.

Maybe I'll fix the handle next spring when I wake the car up from hibernation. Or I'll wait until the problem gets worse. It really hasn't changed much in several years.

I used an electrical contact cleaner and an abrasive pad. $10 for the cleaner and $2 for Dielectric grease and my time, less then an hour total!
SO WORTH IT!!!!

And it is a permanent fix as well....Mine lasted for years and worked better than new...A pencil eraser and alcohol...about five minutes,

cleaned mine 5 years ago with a pencil eraser. Still works perfectly. Not a temporary fix at all. The parts inside are like new. They just pick up a little dirt over time.

Did mine today, took about 1/2 hour to do both, very easy. Thanks for the suggestion and the You tube made me realize how easy it is.
