If your car has memory settings, try setting mem 2 with the outside mirrors pointing down and see if that helps. Some newer cars have that backup feature built in and as soon as you put it in reverse, the mirrors angle down.
Some mirrors have add-ons that provide small wide angle views.
I'd like some that point downward, so I can see how close to the curb I am.
Is there such thing?
Most auto parts stores sell a stick-on wide angle adapter that's approx. 1"x1". Intended to be placed on the outer edge of the passenger side mirror. If you were to mount it turned down 90 degrees, the "wide angle" will give you a view of the street & curb.
C6 corvettes with the 3LT and 4LT option have the memory feature for the outside mirrors, power 6 way seats, heated seats, telescopic steering wheel, radio station preset.
Once the mirrors are set, the telescopic wheel position, radio presets, seat positions, etc. the memory button 1 is pressed and it saves the settings automatically to the FOB being used. If another setting is required, (as in mirrors pointing down) use memory button 2. When you want the settings in memory 2, you would simply press the 2 button, and the mirrors would point down. Once you are finished, you can then push button 1 for your original settings.
It comes in handy for many things.
My car is 3LT, so I can program the diver numbers and FOBS.
But, the mirrors don't turn down automatically when I go to reverse... Perhaps I haven't set it up correctly?
No, it won't do that. when you program it to setting 2, it will tilt down when you press "2". It does not have a tilt-down setting activated by reverse.
