Default C6 Corvette Clock

Good morning,
I like many of us replaced the battery in my 07 Pace Car and the clock & GPS is not working. Dealer replaced battery and all I get is a run around and I have been waiting for fix for 5 months. Now big excuse is "strike" no one there to answer questions. I do have a question that I have available an OEM radio from an 08. If I replace my radio with a the one out of the 08 will I still have same issues. I did go by dealer and they are telling me I need to reprogram the replacement with my VIN in order for the radio to work. Is this true? Is the dealer the only place to reprogram? They want an average of $150 just to reprogram. I am installing. Any help with reprogram would help and will the replacement fix my issues. Since it is a Pace Car wanting to keep 100% stock

I don't think putting the 08 radio in is going to work any different. The clock works from a satellite signal from what i have read. Supposedly there is a fix coming soon, it just hasn't been released to the dealers yet. I think your only option is to wait.

Yes! You'll need a radio/Nav from a 2011-2013.

If you know anyone with a Tech II the Vin Number can be changed in under 5 minutes when replacing radio

If you want 100% stock as you say, shouldn't the replacement radio be from another 07??

Thanks for the reply. I probably take your advise. I was able to purchase an identical radio out of an 08 from a club member paid $100. They wanted a hands free unit plus Bluetooth. It was a working unit when pulled but if I will still have same issues might as well keep mine it plays. The dealer over the last 4 months have every excuse under the sun and now the excuse is the "strike" so no additional answers. The dealer replaced my battery and it they didn't disconnect positive and negitive and left power to the port this probably wouldn't have happened

The radio from the 08 is identical to the current one in my 07 so pretty much would be in my mind keeping it stock. Mine still play music and XM only lost clock & GPS. Pretty much what I am reading on forum nothing will change if I switch out radio since issue is not radio but software from satellite. I waited 4 months so who knows. As for the 08 radio a club member bought a Bluetooth & Hands free aftermarket. I didn't pay much so I can use it for parts if ever needed in future

So far reply coming in are problem will not go away if I switch out radio. My radio plays only no clock or GPS so I guess at this point I will wait until GM creates a fix only now the excuse is the "strike"

I don't know this as 100% fact, but my car is a 2010 Grand Sport. I have a nav from a '11-'13. I have unplugged the battery a few times now and the clock continues to work. My original radio was not a nav unit, so I don't know if my car would have had this problem, had I gone with a '10 and earlier nav unit.

From what I've read (MANY THREADS), the problem is with the way the earlier radios interpret the GPS data.

As far as the radio being programmed for the theft-lock... Yes, that is correct. Some sellers on eBay sell radios that have the theft-lock cleared and ready to accept a new VIN (your car). This is the route I went and worked perfectly.

HTH.

Problem happens on certain radios and Vettes. GM has a service bulletin out dated 6/19 PIT5652E about the issue and they know the problem and working to fix it. Only that never happens. I have the radio from the 08 I will either keep it for "future" parts or offer it cheap on Ebay or Amazon. Most replies are telling me that issue is not radio but software on signal received from satellite as GPS & Clock are tied into that signal. So it appears that replacing the radio and paying dealer to reprogram it is a waste of money. So I guess I will continue to wait

or ... just buy a new head unit with built-in Garmin navigation

Clock and nav works perfectly

If not, you folks with clocks that don't work may be waiting indefinitely
