I have posted before about this as it's really annoying me lately. While it's still light out but approaching twilight, the headlights come on but the dash lights don't. During the morning and early afternoon everything is fine. Is there any kind of adjustment needed here? I have been driving a lot more than I used to as I sold my daily driver but I think this has been occurring since new.
A previous poster said it is common with these cars and said it was an idiosyncrasy.
My 2006 Coupe does a similar thing. In the morning the lights on dash are dimmed in Garage. I drive it out into the bright sunshine and it stays dim. I cycle headlights on and off a few times and it starts working. Wish I had an answer for you.
Thanks vetteJPJ it is a pretty annoying thing to be sure but I think it must b a common issue with these cars.It sometimes takes a few miles for my dash lights to come on and sometimes at twilight they never do! when that occurs I turn on the spring loaded light switch forward and they come on bright but then I get a "headlights suggested" message! I believe it's part of the car's "twilight sentinel" system. Pretty confusing owners manual description on this whole thing in section 6.

I'm the person that previously responded to your post. I took the car out earlier this morning, and it was sunny. The dash lights were off and didn't come on until I drove a couple of miles, with the same light conditions. I think it has something to do with the lights being in the Auto setting and the dash sensor! I've spoken to other Corvette owners at car shows that have experienced the same thing. Very annoying!
