Have any of you C6 coupe owners had any issues with your hatch latch? Mine is a 2010 C6 GS coupe, only 14K miles approximately. I've owned the car for about a year and its been flawless and decided to drive her to work today and when I got my briefcase and jacket outta the back, the hatch latch wouldn't pull it all the way down. It would connect, but not pull it down and fully close it. Then, I got in it to go to lunch and the "hatch open" message was on the DIC. I ended up pushing the lid down enough to fully close it and not have the error message, but wondering if any of you had experienced any issues similar to mine.
I'm guessing the mechanism that pulls the hatch to fully closed is bad/going bad and will need to be replaced. Seems it wouldn't be too difficult with the access right there behind the carpeting, etc. (and I've had my complete interior out to do sound deadening and VetteNuts insulation, so am familiar with it).
Thanks in advance for any info on part, part number, cost, installation tips, etc.
I've had my 2009 C6 for about 18 months now. I had exactly the problem you describe. I opened and closed the hatch a few times. After the 4th or 5th try, it sealed properly and I've (thankfully!) never had the problem happen again.
What is happening now with your hatch? Does it fail to seal every time you open and close it?
Bought mine new in 06. Every time that’s happened to mine I was close to needing a new battery. Did you try leaving the car running when you shut it to see if it pulls it down as designed? If it only happens when not running it might be time for a new battery.
I find with my 2009 that the hatch needs to be almost closed for the auto close to work. What I mean by that is that the hatch parts must be more than just touching. It needs to be almost closed, like 1/2" from closed then the auto close works.
It's happened to my 06 occasionally during my 110K miles, but after a few attempts, it closes. Sometimes it just doesn't quite latch or close tight due to the pressure inside the cabin doesn't escape fast enough through the cabin vent, thus the added cabin backpressure.
Unless it starts doing it all the time, I wouldn't worry about it.
Thank you for the comments and replies. It is doing it every time I open it, I can still get it to latch pushing down on it (pretty firmly I might add), but certainly not like it was. Prior to this, I would lightly let it down, then give a little push down and it would grab and pull it tight. Now, it doesn't do that.
I'm guessing its probably the battery and will see if its doing it while the engine is running.....

Also, try doing it with a door open to see if it latches by itself without needing to push down on the lid. That will tell you if it is the backpressure in the car causing it to not latch.
