Default Screw

Do these screws have any special name? I see they don't have a tip on them. I removed my gauge cluster and one of these screws fell down and I can't find it. Been looking for it for 2hrs and have given up. These screws attach the buttons to the bezel (DIC info etc...)

I did the same once & it’s in there. Mine was caught up in the silver metal section of the steering column. Took me a good hour to find it.

Not sure of the name but it's made for plastic. One taller spiral and one shorter one.

It's called a Truss Head self tapping screw. Designed to cut new threads when it screwed into a softer material. When re-inserting these, it is important to turn the screw counter clock wise using slight inward pressure until you can feel it drop down a bit and click. Then screw it in - it should go in fairly easily following the existing threads. If you don't do this, you risk cutting new threads every time it's reinserted. The end result is that the hole gets stripped. Not that you intend (probably) to disassemble the gauge cluster numerous times, but still..............

If you have a Fastenal depot nearby, you can try them to see if they a similar screw.
I was able to find a business on line which list many of similar looking screws

Been looking everywhere and it may have slid down and then flew straight into the smallest gap inbetween the kick panel and carpet. I have decided I am not going to pull apart half the car to go looking. Just one of those things so many bigger gaps where it should have fallen through and be sitting by the pedals but no.

They are similar but not exactly the same and I don't have this shop in the country I live in. In the end I might have to get something very similar.

Anything similar will work. A self tapping screw approx the same size should do the trick. Even a GM trim screw sold in any auto parts store will work.
