battery replacement time?
I purchased a new to me 2012 Centennial edition about a month ago, 35k miles.
It has an OEM battery, and I assuming its the original one. I didn't see a date code on it, but didn't look real hard for one either.
I have read many posts about battery issues on here and looking for opinions if I should just go ahead and change it now before I have issues.
I have had no starting issues and have been using a battery tender when its parked for a few days. After using the tender multiple times, and having it connected for over 24 hours,
My concern is I have noticed the displayed DIC voltage never reads higher than 11.8v when the car is in full power mode with the engine off.
My gut feeling is to just move forward and get a new one.
I am a huge fan of Odyssey batteries, and have a group 35 currently in my 4runner. Its rated 850 CCA and probably overkill for this vette. It starts my 4.7 4runner easily even in the dead of winter, and 0 degree temps
I also use this 'voltage booster' in my 4runner to give the battery a little extra juice https://www.hkbelect.com/
Toyota charging systems are known to not supply enough voltage to keep AGM batteries 'topped off'.
Is there anything like this, or is it needed, for the corvette?

The battery recently shot craps in my Centennial vert. I bought a Bosch AGM battery from Sam's Club. And yes, batteries have gotten pretty expensive in the past five or so years.

Replace it now before it fails and puts you in a unfortunate situation. I like to replace things like appliances, water heaters and car batteries at my convenience and not when they actually fail and cause more problems that I have to deal with.

Fellow Centennial owner here. I bought mine a few months ago with 12k miles on it, and with the original battery. Manufacture date on it was January of 2012. I had no issues with it at all, but after reading on here about some crazy battery-related issues that can occur and fearing getting stranded at the worst possible time, I just replaced mine this past weekend. As mentioned above I figured I was on borrowed time...

If you think you need to change your battery, you should probably go ahead and change your battery.

I'm in the replace it now camp. If that 11.8 reading on the DIC is correct it's pretty low. I'd put a multi meter across the terminals for comparison. Any parts store will load test your battery for free. I'm a big fan of AGM batteries over flooded cells. Many here use a battery maintainer all the time unless driving regularly to keep it topped up. These cars have a pretty large parasitic current draw just sitting there. Any time you let a lead acid battery get discharged it takes about 10% of the capacity away. Only takes a couple of times and it's toast.

Burning Brakes
Funny, I replaced the battery in my 2012 (I bought it this January) about 2 weeks ago. Just died without any indication of getting weak. I didn't even realize it was the original battery, I assumed it had been replaced during its life. To get 7 years on a 6 year battery was really good, IMO.

Hi.
I would suggest an AC Delco AGM. Here is my experience with one - for an engine mount.https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1599395108
Hope this helps,

While you have the old battery out of the car, it's a good time to replace he cabin air filter. It's much easier to slide the new filter element into the cavity in the firewall above the battery when there is no battery there...
