Interesting problem (with a solution)
The problem - when I press the traction control button on the center console, the DIC will suddenly say "SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM". I restart the car and everything is OK and remains that way until I push the button.

So I checked every thing and finally the traction control button itself. I pushed on the connector on the bottom of the button and barely felt the slightest little click. Now it works again! Its been about six months since I've been into my console, so I guess this problem was just waiting to surprise me. Hope this helps a DIYer in the future.
