Just wondering with all the LED conversions here if anyone was able to rig ambient lighting to your vette like they have in Fords or Lincolns. Maybe it’s more of a family car thing but I sure would like to see my ladies legs at night while driving. LMK
The challenge is that just about everything is going to be too bright. To get things the appropriate brightness, there are a couple of options:
A) take an inherently dim LED strip (like one of the older styles) and dim it down with a load resistor from a 12v as needed. (This is the cheap, but easy way....see below what I did with my C5)
B) get acrylic tubes with LEDs on each side notching the tubes with a Dremel at various points. (This is the more professional, but more difficult route...Something I've Never attempted)
There is a Company, LED Glow that has motorcycle and car LED kits that would work perfect for what you want. They have a "Advanced Million Color" kit that runs off of your bluetooth phone. You can dial up any color and sequence you want with a brightness and fade control. The cost is about $150 or so and very easy to install. May be exactly what you are looking for.
