Default Possible electrical issues

Need suggestions from some of you pros......Car is a 2005. Initial issue was that the fan was not operating like it should, engine would overheat at idle. When taking it to the shop, none of the gauges worked (HUD was still working), then all of a sudden they came back on for a few seconds and then shut back off. The guy at the shop said he thinks it might be the PCM, but was not sure at this point. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Personally, I would be checking the simple things first:
Will the fan start if jumpered?
1) Check the fuse for the radiator fan
2) Check the fan connector. These have been known to melt the power wire at the connector.
3) Engine Coolant temp sensor could be erratic or bad ( behind alternator on the left cylinder head) or it could be a broken wire t the connector.

Instrument panel
All the readings to the I/P is fed through the ECM behind the passenger fender wheelhouse.
The HUD speed VSS input also comes from the same ECM, but is a separate plug connector to the HUD
All those inputs from the ECM to the instrument panel are with a plug connector.
Have you checked whether the connector is loose behind the Instrument panel?

These are the Instrument panel connectors

Corvette plus electrical issues usually equals a battery starting to fail. I've had/have a total of 10 corvettes. From C5 on always look at the battery first. Especially if its weird stuff such as gauge readings, start/no start, radio head stuff...battery.
