We would like to start out by saying that we are always searching for, and finding new ways to improve on our customer service side of the business. Nobody is perfect, and no business is perfect. There will always be someone who feels like they got the short end of the deal somewhere along the way.

RPI Designs started out in this industry back in 1998, and we started to build from the ground up, always learning and trying to be better along the way.

Back in early May of 2014 we had a devastating fire that destroyed our entire business, our building, all molds, all inventory, computers which had all of our business files...everything. Literally, we had to begin from scratch again. The difference this time was the customer relationships we had made and many of them were able to send us parts they had previously purchased from us so that we could make all new molds, get all new instructions written as well as a ton of other major and minor details that you don't always think of until you need it.

There was also the negative side of this as well, as many people thought that this was some kind of insurance fraud or other sort of scams. Truth is, We were underinsured by roughly $250,000.00 and took every penny we had to come back and rebuild. Obviously this was another learning curve for us, but with every trial, we get through makes us better, smarter, and stronger.

We are now in 2020 and still continuously learning and improving every aspect of our business each and every day. We know there are a few unhappy customers who will tell their side of the story and make us look as though we don't care about the customer, but this couldn't be further from the truth. Our customers are the most important part of our business and we are always striving to make better relationships. And...there are always two sides to a story.

So, we'll take the good with the bad as we have done for over 20 years now. We will also continue to do our best to make every one of our customers happy with the product and service that they receive from us.

Our painted lead time is around five weeks, as we have stated on the front page of our website. We manufacture many of these parts from our shop here in Ohio and as well as custom paint them to order. Our paint team is second to none, but there is a maximum number of parts that they are able to paint each day. We give out lead times according to the number of orders ahead of the one you just placed.

Our website may look "a bit" outdated, but we are not out to scam anyone. This is our original website, and we are looking into upgrading that as well.

Thank you to all of our customers,

Well Said! Glad you let everyone know what went down in 2014. I remember it well and the pictures were heartbreaking. You guys do a great job and continue to expand your product line. Tell Josh Pat said "Hi".

First off, I can't speak for everyone else in this thread, but my concern has nothing to do with speed. As I stated in my post, I was told it could take 5 weeks and received an email supporting that. If it will take another 5 weeks to get it right, I'd be okay with that as long as it is communicated to me. Quality, customer service, and delivery may have nothing to do with being a sponsor here but it has much to do with earning any repeat business from me. People suggest here all the time to support the sponsors that support this site, and rightfully so, but we shouldn't have lower expectations of how we are treated as customers. I have no say, but if a sponsor earns a reputation of ripping people off, they should have to risk their sponsorship as a result. That said, I have no issues so far with any site sponsor here and hope that remains that way. Looking forward to getting and installing my splitter but I wouldn't have ordered it if I wasn't willing to wait my turn.

Get over it. RPI is a good company and I have a lot of respect for Josh.

I'm glad you came on here and responded. I'm a small business owner and understand the challenges.

With that said, tomorrow will be 8 weeks since i placed my order. Still have no Tracking info and can only wonder if my ZR1 spoiler is in the process or not. When i Realized it was 4 to 5 weeks i accepted that. If i knew it was gonna be 8 weeks to infiniti, i wouldnt have placed an order. Now its so far along im watching to see when i would need to contact Paypal to dispute the charge. I emailed RPI again today looking for info but have not heard back... The saga continues...

You should get some friends instead trolling around on forums. I'm gonna write you off as slow and move on...

I received an email from RPI this morning letting me know the time for painted parts has extended out to 6 weeks and offered a refund if that was not okay for my needs. In my view, that's great customer service and communication. Being backed up that long is a happy problem to have for a healthy business. Where I live, custom landscaping is a big business with a lot of competition. When a landscaper comes out to give a quote, if they tell you they are running a month or more out, that's a good sign they are a good one. It's the ones that tell you they can start tomorrow that you have to be careful about. 6 weeks is fine by me in this case but I appreciate that they offered to cancel the order and refund me if it wouldn't work for me.

When did you place the order? They told you that right after you placed it?
At least you got some decent communication. So if you wait the 6 weeks, and it turns into an additional 4 weeks, will you still be happy with the vendor?

That's never going to be OK with many people. I would have a problem with that. Would I cancel the order over it? Tough to say.

So here's how it went down. I found this splitter that I liked just by browsing online. It was offered by a vendor that I had never heard of, so I posted here to see if anyone had a splitter like it and if they were familiar with the vendor. Someone replied that RPI carries the same ones and several forum members have them and even shared a link to a thread about them. Knowing RPI is a site sponsor, I went to their site to order. Their site clearly stated to check their main page for turnaround times for painted parts. At that time the site said 4 to 5 weeks I believe. Within the next few days I received an email reiterating that painted parts have a backlog and that it would be about 5 weeks. So, if I wasn't okay with 5 weeks I'd have stopped right there. On the other hand, if I'm okay with 5 weeks, I should be okay with 6. Today I received an email saying it would be 6 instead of 5. That I'm okay with - not because it's only an extra week but more because they made the effort to communicate it to me in advance. If I get an email a month from now saying it will be 10 weeks instead of 5 or 6, I won't be pleased, but as long as a good reason is provided, I would be understanding and patient. Where I tend to get frustrated is when 6 weeks goes by and I still don't have my order and I haven't heard squat from the vendor. Then after messaging and/or calling to find out what the deal is, I'm then told it will be another month or more, I won't be as happy since I had to go digging to find out what the deal is. Stuff happens and it happens to most of us. Building's have fires, paint booths go down and have to wait to be repaired, and painters quit without notice and you have to hire someone else. I get all that. The best way to keep customers happy, or at least this customer, is to be transparent and communicate pro-actively and ultimately deliver a good quality product.

Waiting on my RPI ZR1 spoiler as well from early Dec. Although they do reply to my emails.. it's been a bit of time. I'll wait it out as it's not a huge deal at the moment. Hoping the quality and paint match are worth it like many say.

I guess it must be a generational thing. I'm from a time when calling someone.....the other end usually picked up the phone for immediate response.

Ok spoiler came today. Started installing it. The brake light doesnt seem to fit very well. The shape of the opening is off.
More importantly. The extremely flimsy, plastic piece under the brake light bows when installed. It would make sense that holes need to be bigger, so I tried widening the holes but not really changing it much. Its bowed even when I have only the stock mount points bolted.
Thanks in advance for any tips to get this to work...
