I have a 2012 Grand Sport with a LS3 engine and in a few weeks it will be waking up from a winters nap my question is, is there a way to crank the engine over without it starting.
I have heard of one way but i'm not really sure of it. Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks
I don't think there is any advantage to cranking it without firing. It will just put a lot of load on the starter and battery. Idle combustion doesn't create much in the way of loads or engine speed. If anything, it will get oil to the top end sooner than cranking alone. Now if you could build pressure before turning it over or without the compression load (spark plugs removed), that might produce a tiny benefit.
If you want to be certain, simply remove both injector fuses in the underhood fuse block. It was disable the injectors and will not start. When you want to start it, put the injector fuses back in.
