Default Valence Panel Question

Hey All!

I need to replace my front valence panel. It looks like crap as it was messed up by a previous owner. So in my search for this part, I found it is part number 20 on the diagram below.

Before I replace it with a factory part, I am curious if anyone else has replaced this part with an aftermarket piece. I believe these parts are called splitters, right? So what is available to replace the valence panel and could you post a picture of what you did and where the piece can be found? Much appreciated!

Part number 20 is what I need to replace.

Not the best picture, but you can see mine is fugly!

You can replace your damaged piece with a GM replacement part or go aftermarket with a plastic or carbon fiber piece, it depends on your price range. www.acscomposite.com is a good aftermarket place to look

The cheap ebay ones suck! I had one come folded in half and broken! I would go OEM, it's nice and firm.

Reviving this thread from the dead... have been searching for the answer to my question and this is about as close as I've found...

I bought a 2012 GS a couple of months ago and the front spoiler/splitter/valence panel had been removed. I've looked under the bumper cover and don't see any damage, so I assume it was intentionally removed vs. being ripped off on a parking bar or something like that. Maybe the part itself was scraped up or broken and they decided to just remove it rather than replace it... I have no idea.

Anyway... I've found that GM Parts Direct sells the OEM "Valence Panel (GM part# 15834249) on sale right now for $282 (regularly $433) - and Corvette Central has the OEM one for $419 - or the aftermarket 2-piece version for $200. There's also an "Ikon Motorsports" OEM knockoff on eBay for $158. I'm leaning toward the OEM one from GM Parts Direct - depending on shipping cost.

MY QUESTION IS: how are these attached to the bumper cover? What do I need to buy to attach it? I assume it's screws, but exactly what type - and how many do I need?

Thanks!

I just got a shipping quote for that one. Are you ready... $261!!! ...to ship a $281 part. LOL!!! That's a big "NOPE!" from me. These things seem to be wear items anyway... maybe I'll try the $158 eBay one first. Shipping for that one is INCLUDED.

Still need to know about mounting hardware though. Is it just screws, screws and metal clips, or all that plus mounting tape?

Thanks

Not sure as mine was already installed when I purchased my 2012 GS, but I believe this is an EOS (Extreme Online Store) Zr1 type splitter. Perfect fit and good quality, I've bumped into a parking block or two without it cracking.

I buy these on Ebay from Cultrag since his Ebay price with free shipping of $339.99 is less than his website's price when you include the additional shipping fee. When I bought my first replacement in 2014 these were around $130 but they seem to go up in price about 20% each year. The item attaches with screws to about ten to twelve u-clips that are attached to the bottom of the front bumper cover. Many times the u-clip has been ripped away when the valence gets caught on rebar sticking out of a concrete parking space block. I use self-threading hex screws to attach to the bumper cover if there is no u-clip. The key is to avoid running into curbs or parking blocks.
