I bought a used '05 C6 a few months back. When I start the car it says the "hello _____" or whatever with the name of the guy who owned the car before me.
I know it's stupid, but is there anyway I can change it to my name? I'm getting tired of seeing this guys name everyday haha. I'm pretty sure he's set to driver 1 (it comes up when I hit the #1 button the the L side near the window switches. I was also given two fobs with the car so probably 1 & 2. Thanks.
Back sometime in the late 1950s or early 1960s a young me and my 10-year old friend were walking down a rural road and a guy in a red C1 rolled up with a hot babe by his side. The guy was looking for directions (remember actually getting lost?) and as my friend walked over to talk to him, my very-impressed friend said, "Some nice car, Mr.!"
In 2006 when I bought my first and only Corvette, I punched that same "Some nice car, Mr.!" phrase into the dash.
Still seems right 60 years later, and I don't tire of looking at it. So yeah, it's not stupid to want to personalize your car in this, or any, way!
Yes you can change it. I cannot remember the exact way - it should be in the manual - but it uses the buttons of the right side of the cluster. One button goes through the alphabet and the other moves to the next character. You do not have to center the text on your own. When you're done it should center automatically.

Just remember that you must be using a fob programmed for the car as fob #1 or fob #2 to access those option buttons on the right side of the dash.
I don't think it's stupid at all. If your name is Chuck, who wants to see Hello Frank when you start your car? Changing the name is one of the only things I've bothered to use the owner's manual to figure out how to change. It's in there - it's not difficult to do.

I would certainly not want the car to say "HELLO PREVIOUS OWNER". It took me a couple of years to get around to changing from the default DRIVER 1. Now it says HEY YALL WATCH THIS. They should have given it some punctuation. I'm thinking of changing it to the other immortal redneck phrase HOLD MY BEER, maybe for fob 2.

I like the hold my beer idea! Made me think about changing my driver 2 to "No Hammerdicking" for when I take the car to the shop.
