Need help... k
Either way, could just be the radio has an internal electrical or software fault. I have a pioneer head unit in one of my cars that does that from time to time, especially if the battery is weak.
BTW, how old's the battery?
So much electronic crap always seems to lead to a bad/failing battery.
Otherwise sounds like head unit could be failing.
If orig its been there a long time, actually fortunate it lasted this long.
The screen/controls on the Bose in my '08 blank-out now and then. Comes back, eventually.
Betting it'll soon stay out, I'll be forced to make a decision.
Many C6 owners cut to the chase when and/or long before this crap starts happening, go aftermarket.
Pioneer & Kenwood are a couple favs, model #s vary as do price.
W/ correct harness systems are compatible w/ steering controls, FWIW.
Much improved sound + extra features (B/U camera) take the sting outa a $1K+ investment. YMMV.
Otherwise, find a place who'll remove/repair/reinstall existing OEM.
Be cheaper long run buying a preowned unit off eBay, get it 'registered' to your VIN.
Pick your poison.
the radio of the factory Bose. I’m not sure how old the battery is I bought the car at the beginning of January.
The low down is the pot has a Rubber cup type piece (what pushes the shaft back out) that falls apart that is part of the on/off switch when you push down on the button/shaft, and causes the problem of the shaft not returning all the way back up.
The solution is to just pull the radio face plate and either re-buid the pot, or just replace it.
So since fixing it it pretty easy, you remove the pot from the board, bend the prongs open and remove the parts from the pot to first start to clean them.
What you will have is the shaft with swipers that fit into the upper housing channel, then on the bottom piece that your removed, will be the rubber bumper cup piece that is falling apart on the very bottom (again, think of it as the return pressure spring that pushed the shaft back up). Having replaced enough keys on key board in my time, found that the smaller rubber cups of keyboard, are the same size as the rubber cup piece needed as well.
In this photo, look at the black center piece, which is the cup, and all you need to do is find a small one that is the same size as the piece that is falling apart in your pot.

Now with parts cleaned, touch of dielectric grease on the rubber cup part and shaft, reassembly, bend the tabs back to hold the pot back together, and re-solder the repaired pot back in the radio face plate board.
If you want to just replace the pot, then Mouser sellers them isntead.
