Default Manual Conversion

Thinking about doing a manual conversion on my 09 base auto, how much does that usually cost and is it even worth it?

Changing to a manual is most definitely worth. Money wise it wouldn't be cost effective.

Best way is to sell your car, and get one with a manual. Being that it is an '09, you can possibly replace it without being out of pocket. There are many buyers looking for reasonably priced C6's, and the '05 to '09 usually fall into their affordability situation. If your car has low miles, and is in good shape, you can get the high end of the market price. Then, shop widely for the next C6 you really like, make a good deal, and be done.

totally agree, get rid of it and buy a MT car is way simpler and cheaper.

Ain't like the old days when you just hang the pedal assembly and cross shaft......then just either re-doing and/or moving the present shifter hole and changing the d-shaft with a few other little odds & ends. I would think a swap in these things would be major headache......esp. if your old and trying to get under the dash !!.....LOL. As many have mentioned......sell it and search out that cog box.

Sell the auto and buy a manual will be the easiest and most cost effective way to upgrade.

I'm a little shocked that so many seem to hate the auto. I actually like it, sitting in rush hour traffic jams its way easier, at times I just want to relax and let the car shift for me, at the track my auto out runs the manual vettes and if I want to shift the paddles add that experience to the mix. Yes, I agree for the pure rawness the manual is cool/fun but most guy's can't shift for **** when it counts so to each his/her own.

A few years ago I moved back to the Kansas City area after living in San Diego/LA for a while. There were weekends that it would take hours driving on I-5 to get from/to one of these places and no way I wanted a manual. I only switched back to a 6 spd when I moved back and being stuck in traffic is something you time in minutes, not hours.

I agree with all the others! I had two Auto corvettes and my third now is a 6 Speed and love it!! I'll never go back!
Sell it. Half the fun of owning a corvette is the research and the excitement of looking and knowing that you have the option of basically any car within your budget. Good Luck and happy hunting!!

Most of us drive automatic vehicles of some sort every day. It’s not a matter of hating the auto it’s just not any fun.

Yea the manual has it's place thats for sure when it comes to the fun factor. But i'll tell ya....we just bought a new Acura with the paddles and a dual clutch tranny. I hate to admit that while I'll always prefer the 3rd pedal for some real driving, these new dual clutch trannies are some kind of fun in their own right.......
