I just replaced a burned light bulb in one of the rear lights of my C6. When putting the light back and attempting to screw it back, the metallic clip where the screw goes fell off and into the lower rear guts of my car. Of course, I cant find it within the narrow/small crevices. Does anyone have access to a schematic that shows the name/part number of that clip so I know exactly what to ask for when I buy another one (plus a couple of spares)???
That little clip that fell is laying in the rear valance, and is easily accessibe if you raise the car a bit and remove a few of the nuts holding it in place.
Been there done that and was able to retrieve the one I dropped. You can also use a telescopic magnetic wand to reach under to pick it up.
In any case any auto parts store will have these in stock. These clips are widely used by all car manufacturers.
Here is the clip name (garnish fastener) or GM calls it Quarter trim panel clip Part # 16662182
The one listed in the pic is from clipsandfasteners.com
^^^I don't think that is the correct part because I don't see the required screw hole.
You can find a generic part on Ebay by searching "U Nut Clip". A bag of 20 is about $5.
The screw hole is hidden, but the one I listed is used for under the bumper for those nuts. My mistake.
You are correct in that it is a U nut clip that is needed. I removed my rear light and took a pic of the actual clip used.
Here it is.
Found it at O'Reilly's. And, got a telescopic magnet for good measure too.
Thank you all so much for your help.
4sumerz, going out of your way to actually remove the cip and take a picture of it, is greatly appreciated.
