Default Push Button Start

I am having an issue with my push button start. When I press it, it sometimes lags to start. Almost sounds like a bad starter or battery. Sometimes there is no issue at all. Sometimes it won’t do anything like the battery is dead. I’ll wait a few seconds and it is like it resets itself and the starts right up. Any thoughts on what the issue could be?

Could be a weak FOB battery. Do you get warnings such as "No Fob Detected" etc. Does it sit for days at a time? You can check the battery connections, starter connections to be sure they are all tight and clean. If all that checks out OK, it could be the main car battery is starting to get weak.

Good luck

Same situation. Intermittent response from start, Problem was compromised connection with lead to starter. Cleaned lead end and starter terminal - problem solved !

If you have a manual trans, there is a clutch safety switch, which will not allow a start when the clutch is not engaged.
I find I have to pretty much push the clutch pedal in all the way to start.

Do you have a cell phone close to your fob ? Sometimes cell phones can cause interference with the fob.

If your main battery is good and the Fob battery has been replaced, check the terminal connection to the starter solenoid. It's been a far too common issue with the mounting nut not properly torqued from the factory. This tends to work loose after time and causes intermittent no-start conditions like you described. Mine was doing the same thing a few years ago and I ended up replacing the starter and solenoid due to the burnt connection at the mounting lug.
Good luck with the repair. Let us know what you find out.

Since his post was from 2020 I'd hope he's fixed the problem by now.

SSWEET- Good catch! I was trying to be helpful but just noticed that his post was over two years old. Guess we'll never know unless he comes back to tell us...
