Anybody out there running Continentals and can you give me some feedback? Non runflats..
I haven’t used them but have research the subject to death since I’ll be in the market for street tires soon. I think the continental extreme contact is a very close 2nd and cheaper option to the pilot 4S. I still plan on getting the 4S myself, the extra cost will be made up in longevity.
I also have the ExtremeContact DWS06 for my cold weather setup. They handle & ride very well, and are quiet. If I did not already have a set of summer tires, I would not hesitate to drive the Continentals all year round.
If you're looking for the highest level of performance in an all-season tire, get the Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+. I had the run-flat version briefly. They handle similar to a summer tire; and they respond very quickly to steering input. I returned them because they road harshly (in my opinion), had a constant hum on concrete pavement, and they made a loud thumping noise when running over larger cracks in the road. Those characteristics may have been due to being run-flats. I was spoiled my previous tire, the Continental ExtremeContact DW summer tire. They were extremely quiet and rode very comfortably. I returned the AS3+ and bought the Pilot Sport 4S summer tire, which is the most enjoyable tire that I've ever owned. At that point, I was dedicated to having separate cold & warm weather tires/wheels.....which is how I later ended up with the DWS06.

Buy the 4S - you will LOVE THEM!
I don't know what you could do to improve them.
They have tenacious grip in the corners, they have a smooth comfortable ride, and they are virtually silent.
They are worth every penny.

I was considering the same two and the shop that I prefer to work with for alignment and suspension gave me a quote on the Pilot Sport 4S that was almost the same as the Conti Extreme so I went with the Michelin's. I've been extremely pleased with them. Only down side is they are undriveable below 40 degrees but that's what my truck is for.

Exactly!! I Don't want an all season tire, I put the car to bed, and I don't want run flats! People who don't know would be amazed at the difference in ride, quite etc when you take them off.
Like others have said I suggest pilot 4s the conti's I installed on a customers car had horrible steering response on turn in. If you don't care about handling then the conti will be ok.

well it's not going to be the Michelin 4 S's according to Tire Rack they are on an approximate 3-month back order.

apparently it will depend on what tire size you have on the rear because a 285 35-19 is on approximate 3-month backorder
I’m leaning toward trying the DWS06 Contis to replace my runflat Michelin AS3+ tires when I wear them out. I’m in the tire business and the DWS06 is a tire that I push when it’s an option in the size my customer is looking for. They’re priced right for sure! We have a set on my bosses Mercedes GL550 and a set on a mechanic’s built Silverado.
Michelin as a company, has the absolute worst customer service of any tire company out there. Although they have a normally fantastic product, they completely go into denial that they can build anything bad and deny warranty claims right and left. I have not seen any issues on performance tires, mostly what I see is mileage concerns on their car tires. The LTX that has been around forever also has been suffering from mileage issues (wearing out too soon).
I think Michelin is one of the best in the business for tire longevity at least for their performance tires. The super sport lasted longer than anything else performance comparable. The new 4 and 4S I expect to do the same. They cost more up front but I don’t expect anything else in the ballpark for performance to last as long as them. I read somewhere that due to their racing research, they know how to make a tire perform and last.

4s are on back order for approx 3 to 4 months in my rear size 285/35/19.. So Continental it will be.
