Anybody know about this recall or have had it? I recently sent to GM for a build sheet and received an e-mail back from them telling me that there is an Open Field Action on my 2010 Grand Sport. It states "CORVETTE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS INOPERATIVE. My head light seem fine.. Anyone know what this is all about?
Yes, it is a safety recall due to low beam headlights failing due to a broken ground wire under the engine fuse box for that circuit. GM uses a jumper wire to bypass the break.
The low beams fail if the heat in the engine bay expands the ground wire break and it separates it slightly so it loses contact.
It does not affect all vehicles. My 2006 has not had the issue, but I live in a colder climate, so less heat in the engine bay?
Here is the recall.
According to GM. "The second safety recall covers 111,889 Chevrolet Corvettes from the 2005-2007 model years for potential loss of low-beam headlamp operation Models from 2008-2013 will be covered under a Customer Satisfaction Program. All repairs will be at no cost to customers.
Ignore the Nervous Nellies who advise leaving it alone since they assume the dealer will mess it up. It is an easy fix and should be taken care of.

I got the recall a few years back for my 2008 and had it replaced under warranty. No issues at all from the repair which was done by Criswell Chevy in Thurmont. If GM is paying/saying it needs done, then I’d get it done.

No doubt, last thing you want is your headlights suddenly going out on you when you're driving a winding road at night.
My 06 I just purchased needs the recall done, I called a GM dealer located about 50 miles from me that has a Corvette dept. ,the service writer told me it's about a one hour job, gonna get that done when the weather breaks.
