Is there a thread regarding the best riding tires? Time to buy new tires so researching. Firestone Firehawk run flats are terrible. 25,000 and done and I am kind to them. Anyone have Sumitomo’s?
It really comes down to two things, first are you looking at retaining Run Flats and second what kind of money are you wanting to spend. When I took the original Goodyears off my '07 I went to Michelin Pilot Super Sport non run flats. Ride is great and the noise level is a complete change. I am about to change these and I am again looking at non run flats and I am looking at the Firestone Indy 500's and the Hankook. Both seen to get good reviews on the forum plus the price compared to the Michelin is a lot better. Now I don't drive the car a lot any more so that is one reason to go with a slightly less expensive tire and a non run flat and also I have the wide body conversion on the rear so I need the 325/30/19 and they are the pricey tires.
As mentioned from other members, I too like the Michelin PSS non run flats. Made a night and day difference on the ride and noise factor in my 2013 GS. I also opted the tire size to 345/285 combo on the stock GS wheels.

+1 on the Indy 500's. On top of good price I also have no complaints regarding traction on my cammed car.
I am getting rid of run flats. Too hard and would do me no good in Montana where I can be 150 miles from a tire shop. I carry a 12 volt air compressor and tire repair kit!! I am actually looking at the Michelin Pilot a/s 3+. All season non run flat. In Montana I worry about cold effect on summer high performance tires. I guess even cold storage is hard on them. I read a Tire Rack review on this Michelin tire and the guy said they are noisy on concrete. My Firestone Firehawk tires are also noisy on concrete. I am also looking at the Hankooks. Thanks for taking the time to help. Jim

I put Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ non run flats on my 15 C7 Z51. The difference was unbelievable. Quieter ride - and I didn’t think they were noisy on concrete. The ride was so much smoother as well. I didn’t notice any loss of traction either.
I bought a 09 C6 in November and plan to replace the Goodyear’s on it with the Michelins without a doubt. They are well worth the money.
Good luck in your choice, I have been running non-runflats for years, what I can tell you become member of AAA Plus, and get tire plug and air compressor to run off your cigarette lighter.
Include in your kit, extra razor, pliers to pull out the nail, and your set.
I just got a 2010 GS that came with a new set of Hankook tires on it. I like how they ride and the noise is not obnoxious. I also had non- run flats on my C5Z so I never really experienced the noise that comes from run flats outside of test rides. However, I just rented a C7 for a week with run flats and WOW, I was amazed at how loud it was inside that car. I like the idea of the security you get with run flats, but I guess you have to be ok with sacrificing that safety for less noise, better performance, and a necessary tow if you get a flat. I keep a compressor kit with fix-a-flat goop in case I get a flat that can be repaired that way in order to get it someplace to get the tire(s) swapped out.
