Help Help Help
Day 2 of new/old Vette. Just ran thru car wash (long story). Pulled in to chamois.
Vette won't start. Acts like battery is dead. After 2 minutes, the only thing electrical that works is the light behind the engine start button.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Yes, I can manually open the door.

Start with the easy things first. Check the battery terminals, make sure they're tight. If you have a multimeter, test your battery voltage, you may have a dead battery due to sitting with the radio on in the car wash, etc.

Manual or Automatic?
Wife spent 20 mins at work the other day with a "Dead Battery" I pulled up, bumped the shift selector into P and started right up..
Just a thought.

Part Duex: when I opened the door, the alarm went off for about 30 seconds. Don't know if I shut it off pressing the lock/unlock on the fob.
Hatch opened with button press on dash.

Jammed FOB
I'm guessing something was jamming the frequency used by the FOB. There were no low fob battery messages. When I got home everything worked as it should.
It did emphasize that I need to get a physical key made ASAP.
Thanks all.

I have heard of a fob issue when parked under a “certain” type of metal roof.

Places of business frequently have devices in the parking lot that emit strong electronic signals that will interfere with your car's fob signals.

If your fob is in your pocket make sure it is on the outside of anything (like your cell phone) in your pocket.

I replace all my key FOB batteries every two years just to be safe. Batteries Plus will replace them free after you buy the first one.

Something plugged into the electrical outlet inside the console will also do that.

Can you elaborate on this and give us a few examples so we would know what to look for ?

Some outdoor lights. Outdoor business signs, like those in front of the Kroger gas station.

I drove by slowly looking for cameras, motion detectors, automatic doors, but saw nothing. There are a lot of businesses in the area.
We have a 97 Astro. The remote lock/unlock doesn't work in one particular Costco lot. But no other Costcos have the same effect.

I never had any problems like this with any of my C6s, but several other C6 forum members posted here about the problems they had with strong exterior power sources.

Sounds like a really good idea. Dumb question....does removing the battery to replace in any way effect the FOB?

Can't answer about the old style fobs, but unless you are somewhat careful, you can damage the case on the new style fobs so that they won't clip back together properly. Ask me how I know
