C6 Stingray?
On the Corvette 60th anniversary book on page 390 there is a picture of a prototype C6 with a Sting Ray badge on it and according to the caption there was supposed to be a String Ray that was above the Z06. Does anyone have any more information on it.
Was it the same thing as the production ZR1 or was it a different project that was never produced

It would be nice if you could supply a picture of what you are referring too.
It would not look like this would it?

I thought 'stingray' was a base-model designation..

All Corvettes 1963-67 were Sting Ray's (two words).
Of interest 1968 Corvettes were call Sting Ray in some early GM literature, but the name never appeared on the car.
All Corvettes 1969-1976 were Stingrays (one word).
The Stingray name was dropped from all Corvettes from 1977-2013.
All Corvettes 2014 to present are Stingrays (one word).

Either your book is wrong or you read it wrong. 2014 Corvettes were called Stingrays. Model years after were not.

The Corvette Black Book hasn't been wrong in the past. Don't know what makes you think it and other individuals here are wrong.
Google also thinks they were.

All
Base trim level Corvettes 2014 - present are Stingrays.
Though I recently came across a C6 owner who put the C7 Stingray fender emblems on his car
