LT headers/X pipe w/ Borla ATAK
Looking to purchase a set of headers and X pipe to go with my current Borla ATAK exhaust. I am a bit confused as to what my options are size wise and what all is needed to match up with the Borla system. Has anyone used the speed engineering set with success? Budget is minimal at this point with the Virus and what not but would like to get going on the project while I have the time off. I will not be installing myself but I do have a few buddys fully capable. Thanks in advance

I don't know about the Speed Engineering set, but I do have the Texas Speed LT headers and catless X-pipe and couldn't be happier. They're on the budget side of the header game so you might want to check them out. If you don't plan on installing a supercharger at any point in the future go with the 1-3/4", but if you do you'll want the 1-7/8".

I was looking into those as well and have read good things and no supercharger for me with this car so that answers my question as far as size. Is there anything special needed with any of these headers as far as matching up with an aftermarket exhaust already on the car?

On there website they have the 1 7/8 headers and Xpipe for under 500$. Dont see 1 3/4” option. Is there pros/cons to each? Hows the sound with the Borla system? Appreciate the response

I’m running the speed engineering 1 7/8 headers and off road x pipe into stock npp mufflers, no issues and yes it’s loud with the npp open but I like it that way.

Sound is just slightly louder while cruising but under throttle it really wakes up.Exhaust sound is a subjective thing but I am happy because I have NO drone! As far as size,I think the difference in performance would be very minimal.I am not sure if it would even be noticeable.I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in on that.

I have experience with the speed engineering stuff, we used them on a buddy's camaro. The headers themselves are OK, you get what you pay for with them. They're cheap Chinese headers with "adequate" QC and overall OK build. It's everything else with them that is utter crap. Every gasket, clamp, or non header piece is total crap, and you will have to go out and replace it. Do yourself the favor and do that before you install them, or you're gonna have to deal with them falling apart like my buddy did.
IMO, it's not worth it to save a little on the speed headers vs a tap, jba, or any number of other, better options. Personally, I would not buy headers not made in the USA, especially with all this virus crap going on. I think its become pretty clear we need to stop having our supply chains so dependent on China, and until the government can put in enough barriers to trade with China, it's up to consumers to protect themselves from China.
