Default FOB Programming

I'm a new C6 owner. I have 1 working Fob. I tried to program a 2nd. So, does anybody know what happens when 4 Fobs have already been programmed?

Nothing I do will start the short programming sequence.

I'm hoping that what happens when the 4 have been used up. Since the car is 13 years old, I'm guessing that's the case.

My next step is to start the long process... After a new battery and a minder.

Thanks

You do the long program:

It will add the new FOB as #2
It will readd the current FOB as #1
The 4 other FOBs that were programmed to the car will no longer work.

Going from memory, when I did mine I believe the DIC showed something similar to "Max Fobs (Learned ?).... " That was after successfully turning the key 5 times within 5 seconds in the hatch release. You need to turn fully turn the key quickly and thoroughly. Once you do, the display will show a programming message regardless fob numbers learned, etc.

If fob 1-4 is available to be programmed, the DIC will begin showing something similar to "Ready for FOB # (which is the next number to be programmed)" Then, "FOB Autolearn, wait 10 minutes" and begin counting them down.

Just to be clear, once you have started the long procedure, all known fobs get erased. The fob numbers are then reassigned in the the order which they are programmed, regardless of the number stamped on the fob case.
