Default Need help diagnosing Door

Had an issue with my driver door not opening all the way. Window opens slightly but door lock doesn’t fully disengage. I replaced both door pads/handle with new ones and still have the same issue. I can only assume now it may be a wiring issue or perhaps the connector? I would say 3 out of 10 times the door will open fully, really random.

Perhaps a loose connection at the latch or a failing latch assembly.

Replace your FOB battery and see if that helps. I replace all my FOB batteries every two years as a matter of routine maintenance. Battery's Plus will replace them free after you buy the first battery.

Time for a new door latch assembly. The drivers side goes out first as it gets used the most. I had to "pull the wire" in back to get home last week.

If it misbehaves when operated by outside and inside door openers then that tells you it is not the switches.

I just replaced mine this week. RockAuto got one here in 2 days, amazing! Now the door latch works better than ever, really slick.

You need moderate mechanic skills and tools. The hardest part for me was getting the door frame trim piece off without busting it or scratching the car. It is held in place with 2 strong body clips that you'll need body/fender tool to get under it and pop them out.

Thanks everyone, I will try the least evasive fix first, replacing the battery. Then I will clean the connector/harness. And I guess if all fails, latch assembly.

The driver's door in my '09 C6 has been acting the same way as yours in the last month. I cleaned the door contact pads and swapped side to side, but no change. The passenger door operates normally. Driver side will always lower the window and open about 1 out of the first 3 attempts. After that, it will not open and I hear a faint click in the B pillar. Car battery is fully charged and I replaced the fob battery too. Can the door latch assembly be serviced... disassembled and cleaned, etc. to restore reliable operation? Or do I just need to replace it? Thanks

I replaced my door latch 6 weeks ago. Door operation is back to normal. Expensive part though.

Hoping someone may help. I also need to replace the latch mechanism. Problem is there seems to be 2 part numbers for the drivers door and I cannot figure out which I need.

LOCK Corvette; Left; w/o Remote Entry Lock 88956758,
LOCK Corvette;
Left; w/Remote Entry Lock 88956759 (I think this is the one I need)

Is there something in the options list that will tell me which I need? Or somewhere else to look?

Car is a 2008 Z06 3LZ.

Thanks.

I had a problem with my '09 base Corvette driver's door latch back in April, as mentioned in the post above. I wound up replacing it with part #88956758 that fit perfectly and works great ever since. Good Luck with yours.
