Default Quarantine mods - thread color change

Using my down time to do little mods here & there. As with my previous IOM GS, I am not a fan of the silver trim pieces in the interior. My IOM Carbon is a 3LZ with the leather dash/doors with orange stitching, however, the Corvette stitching on the dash is silver . I also have the rear cargo shade with Z06 stitching in red/silver, & my Callaway floor mats have silver stitching.

I purchased black and orange Zig Fabricolor markers to change the color of the thread based on other discussions here on the forum. The black worked very well on the silver dash stitching but not as well on the red stitching on the cargo shade. It didn’t work at all on the silver stitching of the Callaway floor mats (seems like the thread is coated).

The Orange worked fairly well on the silver thread on the cargo shade, but I had to go over it several times to get it a bit darker. For < $5 it works well.

Did you do a few inches of color at a time and wipe the excess off the leather?

The marker has a fine tip & brush tip. I just used the fine tip & went slowly. Didn’t really get any on the leather but wiped it with a damp paper towel along the edges just to make sure. Took me prob less than 10 min for the dash.

I think it looks great. The OEM leather dash is by far my favorite interior mod.

Thanks. I would’ve preferred the Corvette be orange but trying to match the OEM orange thread on the dash would be next to impossible. Having 2 shades of orange would drive me nuts. All the other stitching in the car is orange yet they do bright silver for the Corvette - sometimes I don’t know what GM was thinking.
