Default Rake or no rake? Base C6

My car currently has a bit of rake.... I am debating on cutting one rib from the rear bushings....

Height from ground to fender
Driver Front: 25 3/4
Passenger Front: 25 3/4
Driver Rear: 28
Passenger Rear: 28

Not sure if this amount is ideal or I should try to even it out. Thoughts? Pics of my car below.

I wouldn't be measuring to the fenders. The wheels are different sizes so I imagine the fender openings are as well.
Maybe measure from the bottom of the rocker panel to the ground?

Or alternatively from the top of the tire to the fender lip. Make them equal?

I have read many post that say you need a rake. I have an '07 with the Z51 option, and I have both front and rear lowered all the way on stock bolts and one rib cut off in the rear. I am also running the 325/30/19 in the rear (wide body). I have 25.5 in the front and 27 in the rear.

Here are the stock height specs for the GS and Z06

Front: . . 27.3"
Rear: . .. 28.2"

The base C6 is more than likely a little different, but the important thing about the specs above is the fact that the rear is .9" higher than the front.

So, whatever height you like for the front ... then set the rear so it's about .9" higher than the front

That way you will still get the correct front to rear 'rake' for the C6.

Make sense ?

And of course, whenever you do set the front and rear ride height to your liking, remember ... You need to drive the car a couple of times in order for the height to stabilize before measuring and maybe re-adjusting.

The ride height will settle a little after a few days.

I'm assuming you're going for looks, in which case, your car looks good! I wouldn't change a thing the way it sits now.

Alternatively, you can reduce some understeer going with more rake, or reduce some oversteer with less rake, handling/suspension wise..

Ron ....

Your front height is certainly low enough ... almost a little too low

But, the rear of your car needs to come down a little (that will decrease that 2" of rake you now have)

Just my opinion

BTW .... nice C6, and the wheels look great !

I don't know of any functional reason to change / or problem with 2" of rake, other than you will get more direct steering (less understeer). So I'd leave it, looks great.

I ran far more rake on my LS2 GTO, and I loved it (it was lightened and nose heavy as well):

Keep in mind the rear fender is supposed to be covering the tire some as OEM sits...I.e. look at the rocker panels

Noted as well. Thank you very much!

I will be installing some Bilstein B8 in the rear tomorrow and I will see how the suspension settles and go from there.

Thanks!! Ok that’s good to know too. As mentioned I have read the Bilstein B8 shock is shorter then the factory shock so it might lower it just enough.

Thanks!

I also checked the rake at the rocker panels and its only 1.25 inchs from front to rear. I think I will leave it alone as suggested

You need to adjust so the tire and fender gaps are the same front and rear.

Personal opinion. Gaps need to be the same. Larger gap at rear looks odd.

I've seen the numbers for a base car on here before, and used to have it saved on my comp, but forgot to keep it when I got a new hard drive. Anyway, I'm sure you can find it with a search, but IIRC the base actually has a little more rake
