2011 GS M6 17,500 miles. I’m the second owner for about 6 months. 5,000 of those miles are mine. Sometime over the winter the top right switch (Gas mileage, etc.) became flakey. Would work on cold mornings, quit as the car warmed up. Some days was fine, some days not at all. I sprayed some contact cleaner in the crevices and it seemed to get better. Been dead for the last month.
All the classic signs of dirty contacts. SInce a new cluster was only $52, I ordered one instead of trying to take the original apart and clean it.
Got the new part today, swapped it out, and the same switch doesn’t work. Where do I go from here? Bad pin in the connector? Do I need a Tech II?
I have an 05 Vert with 90K that did the same thing. Changed out the switch pod- no difference.
Ended up swapping out the entire instrument cluster for a different one- everything works great now.
I know my buttons sometimes get stuck when depressed and stay depressed... just a suggestion.
That is what I was hoping for. New switch, button definitely depressing and releasing, same behavior.
Checked out the connectors and wires on the switch end today. I guess I need to pull the instrument cluster to get to the other end to check the entire cable.
I replaced my right switch panel because a couple of the light bulbs were burnt out. I did not disconnect the battery during the process since it was "plug & play." Maybe you did not either. If this is the case, I would disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to do a re-boot and see if this helps. Can't hurt. Good luck.
