I have AN 05 with a manual transmission. Two months ago I got the shift to reverse thing. I looked it up on the forum and found the solution. BIG THANKS TO ALL THAT CONTRBUTED.
Well Sunday it did it again. I bought 2 more transmission switches, and nothing. Dead as a doornail
I called the corvette dr, but he didn't know, but gave me his son-in-laws number who is a Chevy service man.He told me to stick a paper clip in the wiring and see if it works. Well it did. He said drive it but when I asked about the computer thinking it was in reverse would it screw anything else up. He didn't know.
MY QUESTION IS
Have any of you shorted this out and drive it all the time
Thanks
Should be fine, but if switches are working, then problem is inside the trans that the lever detent is not pushing the ball in enough to activate the switch. The linkage piece in the trans is not that expensive, but you have to rip the trans apart to change the lever instead (huge bucks in labor).
So on that note since you have two switches (one for the back up lights, one for the BCM for reverse), If the back up lights are working, then swap the connectors between the two switches. Your going to lose the back up lights, but will not drain down the battery when the car does not go into sleep mode instead.
