Default Wet trunk

Hello I have an 08 convertible in great condition with 25K and I love it. Only thing is that the trunk is wet/high humidity. Anything I put in the trunk gets wet and now the carpet is starting to get mold. The seal on the trunk is good in fact sometimes I open the trunk and the entire underneath of the trunk door is dripping wet. Only inside the seal. I have put dehumidifiers in the trunk to no avail. I have never seen or heard of this. Any help, tips, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If trunk lid seal is fine (water not coming in from the lip), then would pull everything out to check for cracks/void that is allowing to come in from the sides of bottom, as well as make sure that the weep lines for the trunk area are not clogged as well.

Thanks, that’s what I figured but that is a daunting task. I was hoping for an easy fix. This may cause me to sell it.

Have you checked the drains outside of the seal in the back corner? With the trunk lid up, take a bottle of water and pour it in at the back corner on both sides to see if they drain out to the ground, but make sure your foot is not under the back fender.

Pour it inside the trunk at the rear corners? What will that tell me?

Have you carefully checked the trunk seal weatherstripping to assure there is good adhesion to the body all the way around?
Pull back the inner trunk carpet, on each side, then pour water in the space between the weatherstripping and the fender (red arrows) and watch for any water dripping or leaking into the trunk area.

Good Luck

It will tell you if one side is plugged up and allowing the water to stand around your seal and if either side is cracked under the hinge.
