Just noticed I have a little bit of tire damage on the drivers side front tire. It is a cut with what looks like abrasion beside it. The tires look new with very little wear. I just purchased the car a few month ago so I don't know the exact history on the tires. The date code on them shows them manufactured less than 2 years ago. Trying to decide if I replace just the damaged tire or both front tires.
On the very top of the sidewall at the tread. The cut is about 3/4" long. Will be definitely be changing the damaged tire. It is a Calloway and I have not taken it out to let her run yet. They claim it is a 200+ MPH car. Don't see myself hitting that number but what ever speed I take it to I will not do it on a cut tire. The question is should I change just the damaged tire or both fronts tires. They are like new with less than 2 years on them.
Manly concerned about handling if anyone had any thoughts. I will be cheaper to replace one that's for sure.
I would do a thorough inspection of the remaining tire before heading to the tire store. Make sure you replace the bad tire with the EXACT SAME tire as the one remaining.
Having said that I would replace both tires. But that's just me.

I agree. I like peace of mind when driving, not wondering whether I should have done something.
Talked to tire shop. Probably going to replace both. But I will have them evaluate with the info that I will probably push the car over 175 at some point.
