Well, I guess it's finally time to introduce myself. I'm a new Corvette enthusiast as I purchased my base 2008 1LT in June of 2019. I've been lurking here for a year to learn all about what I've got myself into. Probably saved you all the burden of answering 100 questions that have been asked a million times. I retired from the USAF 5 years ago after an exciting 26 year career. I almost hate to say it (let the roasting begin), but I am a Ford guy and have owned 17 Mustangs. Most were older Stangs, but I still have a 1967 convertible and a 2014 fastback. My wife talked me into looking at Corvettes (which is taboo amongst my family of Ford relatives), and picked up my 2008 at a great price from a Ford dealer in Asheboro, NC. This is my first non-Ford product, other than a BMW (Bring Mechanic With) that I bought while stationed at Bitburg, Germany. I'm not new by any means to turning wrenches on cars (or aircraft), but am new to turning them on GM products. So far I see that Corvettes can be a bit quirky, but other than that I am really enjoying my "new" ride. This forum has been a great source of information for me and I know I will ask questions soon. Hopefully, I can pay it forward one day and help a newbie out there. The mood here is a lot different (better) than the Stang forums I used to frequent. Thanks to all who have already helped me even though you didn't know it. My name is Brian, but go by Ogre39. Maybe I can post some pics of my ride soon. I look forward to spending more time here as I check this forum at least twice a day!
Welcome to the forum and Corvette ownership. I bought my first one a year ago and absolutely enjoy my 2010 Grand Sport at the age of 66. I'm about 75 miles from you so shout out if you come close this way.
Good to meet you, Brian. I have owned corvettes for decades and had some mustangs long the way. I like them also. I went to high school just up the road from you in Fayetteville but have been in Texas for years. Enjoy the vette and thank you for your service. Always a pleasure to meet active and retired military.

Welcome Brian, and congrats on the C6. I'm in New Bern, not sure where you are exactly in eastern NC but if I can offer any help with anything just reach out!
Welcome and there are some great Corvette clubs in Eastern and Central NC, get connected in a local club that will add to your experience with Corvette(s) and yes this forum is a really good place if you need parts or advise FWIW this has been the case for me.

Welcome to the Forum, Brian. As a former resident of NC (Hickory), I enjoyed living in your state and all it has to offer. As previously mentioned, seek out a Corvette club in your area, and you will soon discover that between club members and Vette owners on this forum, you will enjoy an abundance of information to keep that C6 running at its best. Welcome again! Bronk
Welcome Brian. I've been a CF member for quite a few years but usually hang out in the C4 section as that's what I had...until last Saturday when I picked up a '12 GS. I'm taking her on the first "official" road trip today to visit my son about 160 miles away so I'm looking forward to seeing how great of a road machine it is.
I hope to learn as much about this car in the C6 section as I did my '94 in the C4. Many members are virtually experts on these cars and always provide great answers and solid advice.
Welcome to the forum. This forum is great and their are quite a few members who have extensive knowledge on these cars and are always willing to help.
I am one without the previously mention knowledge. You will quickly learn who does have the knowledge.
Welcome to the the group I’m a fellow North Carolina resident. You have already found how helpful this group can be find you a local club and enjoy all the State has to offer with your Vette. And post pics as soon as you can 👍
Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I’m in the Goldsboro area and I see that many of you are close by. I see clubs are highly recommended and have never thought about joining one. I’ll have to look some up.

For the most part the club people are fine but only a few can be on the arrogant side so I dropped out of the local Corvette club when I was 20.
Unfortunately, car clubs can be a bit to “abrasive” especially if you are a single woman. I was a BMW owner for over 20 years, I have owned an E3 from my dad, an M3 E46, Z3, M135i and most recently an M2. All during that time I was a member of both the national and reginal BMW club and was active in SCCA track and Autocross events. I loved the cars but unfortunately, I disliked the arrogance of many BMW owners, specifically the younger, puke-inducing hipster type.
I am hoping to experience something different as I expand my interest in Corvettes, love the car 2013/427 but it is too big and bulky for Autocross and since it’s a convertible forget track days. I am thinking on 2nd corvette, an older model C5 Z06, they were extremely competitive at some regional SCCA events.
