Trunk popper
I had the same problem with my '06 convertible. There is an electric actuator in the trunk on the left side. They get weak over time. Rather than pay hundreds to replace it, I added a trunk popper. It boasts the lift and works well.

I would like to thank all of the responses to my tread "convert top problems"
I have one more observation to add.
When the top doesn't go all the way down, leaving the tonneou cover ajar and when the top doesn't go all the way up, stopping just short of being able to pull down and close i noticed if I leave the top in this position, turn off the car and return about an hour or so, I find the top tonneou completely closed and when putting it up, the top advanced and ready to be locked closed??
It operates correctly with just a delay before completing the final step?
