If it is that close to the outside of the tread I do not think they will repair it. Plus, if you drive the car like it was meant to be driven..... how much is your life worth? Less than the price of a tore ?

yeah, that's what i was thinking, although my thought was what if the tire blew out and damaged the car.

When it comes to run flats, I swear by them and follow the recommendation of REPLACE, do not repair due to the items mentioned in this link:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiret...jsp?techid=226

Expensive, yes but your life may depend on it later…

Had the same thing happen to me several years ago. Drove on Rt 80 about 10 miles at about 50 MPH to my home with zero pressure. Pulled the wheel off (rear) and brought it to my tire/mechanic shop. He looked at it and said it was far enough away from the side wall had a nail in it. He put a plug in and never had a problem.

Michelin is OK with up to 3 patches and not affect the speed rating and I think their engineers and lawyers know a bit more .....
You will be fine .....
Heck whats going , to happen that will mame and kill u , its a run flat

Had the sidewall blow out on the front of my AMG at 85 MPH, they were Continental runflats and hear to find out that these tires have a penchant for blowing out the sidewall .

If it was not for all the racket the tire was making and the light on the dash I would have never known the tire had blown out

i think i am leaning that way, a tire is about $300(not horribly expensive) and then i don't have to worry about it coming apart and ripping off the quarter panel.

You drove on the tire with zero pressure. Replace it.

I had a nail in one of my Bridgestones that was a real slow leak and never went below 25 psi. I couldn't get a tire shop in town to patch plug it, in spite of the fact Bridgestone allows it, so I plugged it myself.

Again Michlen states that you can drive 50 miles at less than 55 MPH with ZERO pressure and not hurt the tire , i doubt that the few miles he drove hurt anything ...

No because when testing them they drove them on zero air for 1000's of miles...I plugged one for 8k miles with no issue...The run flat is the least likely tire to "blow" out there are...

Default my experiences with run-flats

Plugged one front run-flat with a plug-kit, had another rear run-flat patched inside by Discount Tire......went another 25K miles on those
tires without an issue.

I swear by run-flats after following another C6 for 110 miles @ 60 mph to the nearest small town. Obviously this run-flat pictured below couldn't be
repaired, but it's reputation was proven when you drive without a spare in isolated areas. V V V

$aved a huge tow-charge as it went 110 miles

As long as the repair company says it safe to repair and you don’t plan on 150 mph runs, fix it.

I took the tire to the new Discount Tire store in North Myrtle this morning, they said it could be fixed no problem. it was fixed & balanced while i waited, plug & patch no charge. I took it home and cleaned it up before putting back on the car when i noticed tiny bubbles around the plug. Back to the store, they said they would try again if it didn't work out i was good with ordering a new tire. This time was a success. I will keep an eye on it for now.
What a great place Discount Tire is, free repair and balance even though i didn't buy the tires there. It will be my go to place for tires from here on out.

Discount Tire in my area. BUFORD GA is the only company I trust with my tires and wheels on any of my cars
Great group of young guys who really take pride in what they do . There is no need to ask them to use pucks or torque with a torque stick or torque wrench , I dont even watch them anymore as I know they will take car of my car

I had a screw about an inch in from sidewall, I thought I'd have to replace it but the tire dealer who could have easily had a tire sale said I can patch that from the inside. I haven't had any problems in the two years since flat. Patch dont Plug.

Patch plug is best.
I have dealt with Discount Tire exclusively for 30 years now and never had an issue with their service 👍👍
