I have a 2006 c6 with 130k miles , it keeps overheating so I thought it would be the thermostat so I changed that , it doesn’t overheat anymore but the engine temp runs at around 220-225 , is that normal?

Those temps are above normal, but it will depend upon the outside temps, sit and go traffic. On the highway at speed, that temp should be at or around
200-212.
Has the radiator ever been flushed? Have you checked for outer radiator blockage from dirt, sand, leaves, etc.?
Good luck
Is the fan working?
If it isn't prime suspect's fan plug.
After many heat cycles suckers get brittle over time & fail.
At 130K it wouldn't be a surprise or that unusual.
As suggested flush coolant, should've been done some time ago.
Thoroughly check for debris and visibly check fan's plug,
G/L and update thread w results, or not.
On a hot summer day, during city driving, I do see Temps in the 220-225 range. As the previous post says, the Temps do reduce as soon as I get some airflow on the highway.
