Default Help with Drags

So with covid going on its a little tough to find a pair of rear drags with MT ET Rs financed most shops dont have any. So what i did is i purchased a set of c5z wheels 17x9.5 called it a a day. I need a little help my current set up is FBO Huge Cam and E85 weight reduction also im about 490ish 500ish or so. What tires can i mount on these 17x9.5? Can i still get MT ET Rs 305/45/17? Or? Any help is appreciated. TIA.

I use the ET Street S/S drag radials in 305/45 -17 mounted on 17x11 rear wheels on my 2011 GS

You could do it, but a 9.5" wheel is really a little too narrow for this tire.

I would opt for using a 275/40 -17 drag radial with your 9.5" wide wheel.

At 500 or less RWHP, a 275/40 -17 drag radial will be more than enough tire for good 60' times.

You don't really need a 305/45 -17 at that power level.

Edit ... In fact, the larger diameter 305/45 -17 tire may actually slow your 1/8 and 1/4 mile trap speed down vs using the 275/40 -17

.

oh okay,i guess 275/40/17 it is i just want it to look nice and hook great from rolls. Because street tires right now 285 from a 50 pull doesnt get it done. itll mainly be doing 50-60rolls not much for track since stock rear end, axles etc etc.

Since your thread was titled "Help with Drags" ... I got the impression you were concerned about launching the car from a dead stop.

Still, for 'roll racing', get a set of the smaller diameter 275/40 -17 drag radials.

BTW .... If you ever plan on driving the car on wet streets in the rain, do yourself a favor and get the ET Street S/S drag radials instead of the ET Street R drag radials. The ET Street R tires are dangerous on wet roads.

Don't get yourself hung up on appearance when performance is your goal. There are no bonus points for how good it looks. Been running 275's for years with 1.4 & 1.5 sec 60' times with stock gears/axles and no failures. YMMV
