I have read dozens of posts on the '05 column lock issues but I still have a couple of questions. The '05 vert I purchased, I've only had since May so I'm still learning. On mine the steering wheel has never locked since the day I purchased it. So, here are my two questions:
1. Is this for automatics and standards both?
2. How can I tell if mine has had the lock bypass done to it or even the one done by GM?
The column lock is only for the manual vehicle in 2005.
How many miles on your C6.
If it is a low mileage vehicle, chances are that the column bypass has not been installed, nor has the GM TSB been done.
A GM VIS report from a local dealer sill tell you whether the TSB has been completed.
Any GM service dept could at least check the VIS report and let you know.
Most GM Dealer service dept will run you a report for free.
