Default Axle back installation question

I should be receiving my Borla S Type II axle back today. I kinda want to install this at home. How high does the car need to be for this? What’s the best way to jack up the entire rear end?

I’ve always jacked cars up under the rear and chunk. Not sure if this is safe to be done on my C6Z.
my buddy has a shop with a pit I could use and a lift also, but I really don’t want to bother him with it. Thanks in advance.

It is always easier on a lift. Is the car an A6 or M6. I ask, because I have an A6 and it is a real pain even on a lift to get the over the axle pipe off on the passengers side, so I just cut mine as I was not planning to reinstall the stock system. On the ground it can be a PITA even with it jacked up and it need to be a lot higher then what you do to change the oil or remove the wheels. Besides to get it high enough you need some real good jack stands. I would also want some secondary support. If you have access to a lift I would be all over that.

Just be careful of the "Reverse Lockout Solenoid" mounted on the top of the trans housing. Those wires/switchgear aren't designed to be beat on by exhaust pipes banging around up there. I found this out when the gorillas at Richard's Performance Muffler in Vista destroyed my solenoid. The end result is you got "NO reverse" when stopped. (But, it'll try to go there on the 4th-5th shift...) Especially at 159mph....

Thanks guys. I’m glad I posted here. My kit just showed up and I was about to go jack it up.

If you have an A6 put tranny in S, that will get bushing/linkage out of harms way when putting over axle pipe through or in.

I installed my own with car about 19” off the ground with a Quickjacks.

Good luck, should sound awesome.

Nevermind, disregard, see you have a Z......doh.

Much easier when the over axle pipes are separate.

Prices are insane for some pipe and cans right?...

I went with the B&B Bullets so I basically paid for just pipes..

very insane. I even shopped around and all the prices are close to the same. I can’t wait to hear how it sounds in comparison to the stock/MTW. Personally I don’t like the mild to wild.

Grab yourself a pair or 2 of rhino ramps, $39 ea for the pair & the car will be high enough to swap the exhaust

i do have a set of rhino ramps I use on my lowered Tahoe. I also have a set of the truck ramps as well, which are taller than the rhino ramps. I could put those out back for the extra height. I am curious of what it’s going to sound like with the new exhaust. I may try it tomorrow and see how it goes

I did mine with just the rear up on Rhino Ramps. I had to take the sway bar loose from the end links so I could rotate it out of the way and gain more room. From there it was just figuring out how to move/wiggle/rotate the over axle pipes to get them out. There was no excessive force required.

well I got it on. Had a hard time removing the passenger side muffler, so I cut it at the muffler. Got tired of fooling with it. It’s “LOUD” I was hoping for something quieter, but oh well.

Any idea of how I can tone it down some? I thought maybe installing cats in the x pipe somewhere. My buddy gave me the thought of adding some dyno max mini race bullets. I’m open to ideas.

Sell it & buy a Corsa system . Honestly, that’s what I’d recommend before hacking up the one you have.

Well I decided to take it off today. I have a sale pending to a member here. Now I’m thinking should I go back with the NPP with the muffler mod or go with the Hooker Blackheart NPP. 🤔

I am sure others will chime, but like jabcat said go with Corsa. I have Corsa sports and I LOVE them, no drone just the right amount of sound.

min leaning that way. Oddly enough, I’m liking how the NPP is sounding closed. LOL.
