Default Quick Shock Question

Probably been discussed many times before but I cannot find anything in a search.......

Can you replace Non-Z51 (FE1 type) type shocks with Z51 (FE3 type) shocks. If so, is it a straight swap, or is it more involved that simply bolt on the Z51 type shocks.

Many thanks

Yes, it’s a straight forward shock for shock replacement (FE1 to FE3). I did that same thing on my ‘05. And fwiw, I used the zip tie method and it was pretty easy. Good luck!

Chevyrelic.

Many thanks for the quick response. I'm planning on doing just that to my 2005 DSOM. By the way, your avatar looks exactly like my car! One more question....I have not heard of the zip-tie method. Please enlighten me!

Again, thanks for the quick answer

Well sir, if your car looks exactly like mine...you have one fine looking Vette!! Seriously...take your time and R&R’ing your shocks will be easy. And while you have the wheels off...it’s a good time to do some cleaning too. Good luck!

most people put the z06 shocks in as an upgrade. The other common upgrade is to put in z51 sway bars. Plenty of people make those two upgrades and it will transform the handling of your car.
